Last night I watched a documentary film that I’ve been meaning to see for awhile now. It’s called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead by Joe Cross. The good thing is that it’s streaming on Netflix if you have an account, so you don’t have to wait to get a DVD in the mail =) I’m a huge fan of streaming Netflix. It’s sort of my night cap after my long and busy days. I usually bounce back and forth between TV shows and documentaries. I’ve seen a few good movies but most of the new releases you have to get on DVD.
This film is excellent! My initial expectations were hesitant but I really enjoyed it. Basically it’s a film about one man’s journey to better health. He starts off his journey by completing a 60 day juicing fast, and continues along by changing to a wholesome plant-based diet. He travels across the U.S. while he is on his journey (with a battery operated juicer in the trunk!) and documents the opinions of all the people he meets along the way. He even has a few people join in in his juicing journey. His results are astounding and the film is really inspiring and motivating. Here’s the trailer if you want to check it out.
So today, since I was feeling super inspired, I did my own lil juicing fast :) I’m definitely not trucking down the 60-day road but I might do it for a few days as a mini cleanse. Three days is my goal. No biggie. I drank tons and tons of freshly squeezed juice today and I feel really good. As long as my energy levels and mood stays normal I’ll stick to it for a few days. Wish me luck!
Morning green juice:
1 head romaine, 1 peach, 2 cucumbers, 2 granny smith apples, 1 peeled lemon
6 carrots, celery, 1 cucumber, 1 pear, 1 peach, cinnamon
Again, amazing combination. I have some super juicy peaches and they taste fabulous in fresh juice!
I probably had about 6 servings of juice all day. And tons of water! I’m feeling good. I think fasting is a good way to re-boot your system. It’s also perfectly healthy and cleansing. If you are on any medications it’s recommended you fast under the supervision of a physician, but if you are healthy and fit a fast here and there is safe and easy!
Wish me luck!
