Vegan-friendly dining out

I used to feel like I should wear a warning label. For times like these... Male suitor: Can I take you out to dinner? Me: Sure. As long as it's vegan-friendly. Male suitor: Huh? You serious?  See, a warning label would have come in handy, don't you think? In the dating world, individual tastes and preferences in food choices can be a difficult battle--especially when you are a plant-strong-green-juicing-vegan-food-lover like myself. But ever since I started following a healthier lifestyle I … [Read more...]

Guest post on Vegetarian Who Hates Tofu

Happy Friday, has a nice ring to it doesn't it? I'm headed over for my weekly post-op doctor's appointment in a few hours, and crossing my fingers he gives me the okay to permanently ditch the crutches and possibly start a few more leg exercises. Oh yeah, and I'd like to add driving to the list sometime soon! Hopefully I can impress him. He asked me last time what was my secret to such a speedy recovery, and I said green juice! (He laughed, but I swear by it!) Today I am guest posting over on … [Read more...]

Blackbird fly, into the light of the dark black night

Well hello there blog land! I thought you deserved an update, since I've been in a bit of a blogging funk lately. I told myself I'd be blogging like crazy through my knee surgery recovery, and yet I've found myself busy with other things. Ok, in all honesty I should probably add Netflix and spending time with my amazing man to the list, but hey, who's counting? I've officially … [Read more...]

Shedding that holiday weight gain

There are three little words that I loathe. Three little words that will make most people retaliate with rock-solid New Years resolutions, promises to do better, do more, and push harder. Three little words that are practically unavoidable--at least for me. Holiday Weight Gain. Blah. As someone who follows a wholesome plant-based diet, and makes taking care of her body a top priority (I even got the oh-so-sweet compliment from my man earlier this week "You are probably the healthiest … [Read more...]

Post-op update

Hello lovelies! My knee surgery went quite well on Wednesday, and I thought I'd give you all a bit of an update and share some of the good and (ehhh) not-so-good highlights. Since this was my second surgery for my PVNS (Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis), I went into it with a rough idea of what to expect beforehand and throughout the recovery process. The surgery was outpatient, so I was in and out within a couple of hours. I was scheduled for 2 pm, but they requested I be in at 12:45 to get … [Read more...]

Road to Recovery

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a safe a happy holiday, and are enjoying the last moments of holiday bliss before heading back to work, school and regular routines. I was able to have a Christmas with both my mom and my dad this year, which made me incredibly grateful beyond words. It's a good thing I got some fun times in these past few weeks, because the next couple of weeks are going to be a challenge. On Wednesday I'm having an arthroscopic knee surgery, followed by 2 weeks of … [Read more...]
