My new favorite finds

EOSbalm

Some new (to me) stuff I've been digging lately... EOS-Evolution of Smooth Lip Balm I really love this stuff! All natural and mostly organic ingredients! It does contain Beeswax (FYI vegans) but EOS does not test on animals which is what I am more concerned with. Plus the balm comes in a cute little bubble case and because of its size it never gets lost in my purse! I have the summer fruit and sweet mint flavors. Lavender & Jasmine Essential Oils I snagged a few … [Read more...]

Since fall is in full swing now, it's officially hot soup season! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy soup all year round, but there is something about cooler weather that makes a warm bowl of soup that much more enjoyable. And believe it or not since my last post the weather has finally started to cool down a bit here in Florida. Thank goodness! The day I can wear boots and a sweater I'll be happy. But for now, I've started exploring some soup recipes to get me in the autumn spirit. The first step … [Read more...]

New kitchen-ware and homemade bath scrub

bowls

If you know me personally, or if you have ever read my about me page, you know that I'm obsessed with kitchen-ware. Is that the appropriate word, kitchen-ware? Basically anything that goes in the kitchen. And I'm a bit of a kitchen snob too. I like the pricey stuff. Oyyy. There is something about high quality French cookware, professional chef's knives and designer appliances that makes me weak in the knees. If I even smell a kitchen store from miles away, I must visit. One of my favorite … [Read more...]

Weekend highlights and giveaway winners!

Weekend highlights and giveaway winners!

The (not so great) highlights of my weekend include: - 2 solid days of accounting homework and online exams. On exam in particular took me almost 3 hours! Ugh! - Dropped my Droid in the sink (full of water)... Grrr! Still drying it out as I type this... - Pain in my knee returned full-throttle and I pretty much stayed counch-bound with ice packs for most of the weekend... ARRRRG! - My tarantula had a bad shed and lost one of her legs... Sniffle. This is actually not terribly uncommon for … [Read more...]

Quick-fix meals for a study-worm

Quick-fix meals for a study-worm

OYYYY. Ayyyyyyy!!Grrrr...EEEEPs. That defines my last 4 days in a nut-shell. It's finals week and I'm in cram-mode! I haven't been able to spend much time in blog land because I've been so wrapped up in school work. But tonight I realized blogging is kind of a de-stressing thing for me these days, and I really needed a little bit of unwinding from all my studying before I hit the sack tonight. Because I've been so busy with school, wrapping up my semester, planning my next trip to Colorado to … [Read more...]

Online shopping and Stir-fry eats

Online shopping and Stir-fry eats

Today I happily answered the doorbell to the UPS man! Yay! Packages! Love, love, love :) I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of my latest Ruelala purchase. First of all, if you haven't heard of Ruelala, shame on you! It is an online shopper's dream. They feature a select few designer boutiques each and every day with a limited number of items but at major discount prices. By limited number I mean the boutique opens at 11 am and sometimes popular items can be sold out by 11:30 am. But they tell … [Read more...]

Homemade Sangria

Homemade Sangria

Sangria is... well let me tell you what Sangria is.Fabulous.Sweet.Refreshing.Fruity.Delish.Party Drink.Just what I needed tonight. As I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed a wonderful girl's night in with my best girlfriend tonight. We talked about her wedding planning, dined over fabulous food (I made another batch of sesame seared eggplant with braised leeks), and knocked out her bridal shower invitations. I haven't gotten one quite perfect yet, but I'll post some crafty pictures later.I felt like … [Read more...]

New book , new thoughts…

New book , new thoughts...

Raw Fusion-Better Living Through Living Foods by Linda Joy Rose, PhD. I came across this little gem through some web surfing. After reading the reviews and finding out the author lives in Tampa, FL a short 40 min away from me, I had to snatch it up! Raw Eating has peaked my interest in the past couple of months. Although I love to cook, I think incorporating as many Raw foods into our diets has absolute maximum health benefits. And to be honest, I still feel like a chef when I'm making raw … [Read more...]

Present to myself

So, I tackled Black Friday. Crazy sales and great bargains! Had to treat myself to something too, and added this beauty--Le Creuset 8 qt. oval round to my collection. Made vegetarian lasagna tonight and made the sauce in here. Le Creuset is made in France, has a lifetime guarantee, and is truly the best cookware out there. Works on the stovetop, in the oven, stores in the fridge, you can even put it in the freezer! I love my collection, albeit a small one, and use my pieces everyday. Literally. … [Read more...]
