Crazy Sexy Cancer by Kris Carr

My brothers came over for dinner tonight (yippee! I hardly ever get to see them being that they are both in college in Orlando…) and we got on the subject of my vegan diet, Raw eating and juicing. (Btw for dinner I made stuffed portobello mushroom caps, roasted beets with walnuts and southwestern veggie stew… so yumm and they LOVED it!) Anyway so we were talking about how nutrition really does affect how you look, how you feel and how your body functions at its maximum capacity. Both of my brothers are athletic and have always been interested in nutrition and health. They know these things are a big part of my life so it is a subject we often gladly discuss. Plus, they actually listen to me, ask questions and listen to my answers… I love that. Because Raw eating and juicing have just recently become a focus in my diet they had lots of questions. I finally decided rather than just tell them what works for me I would SHOW them. Visual aids always provide better stimulation to our brains right?

I ventured over to Youtube and grabbed the trailer for Kris Carr’s documentary Crazy Sexy Cancer. (Btw I finally ordered her book Crazy Sexy Diet from amazon a few days ago and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I can’t believe I haven’t read it yet! I have been following her website for awhile now, but have yet to read the book. So I’m stoked!) For those of you that haven’t heard of this amazingly inspirational woman, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2003 and has been fighting her disease since by changing her diet to a mostly raw, wholesome vegan diet with lots of alkalizing veggie juices and smoothies to balance her body’s pH. Eight years later Kris is alive and strong, still battling her disease but has noticed a remission in the growth of her tumors. She was told she had a terminal illness and even chemotherapy or radiation treatment looked doubtful, but she held her head up high and fought back. Her amazing story shows her results. She also has a fabulous YouTube channel KrisCarrTV with motivational tips for healthy eating and healthy living.
You go girl! :)

We all watched without a peep in the room. Afterwards my youngest brother Jay commented, “Man, I want to get a juicer!” Eat your veggies boys! (Trying to wean them off all of the whey protein they consume after working out and steer them towards hemp protein might be a more difficult task but at least I’m trying!)

Here’s to a brand new week full of smiles, laughs, encouraging words and…of course…lotsa veggies! ~*~*~
