Love the Life You Live

photo3

Is it just me or is summer really flying by? I can't believe July has nearly passed us already! It's more than halfway over and I wish it would never end. The only thing I'm happy to see out of my sight is summer school! We've had some very humid and hot weather here in Florida, but we've also had a lot of rain which helps to cool things down. My sweeti and I spent all of last weekend enjoying the beach and having our own little "staycation". We headed down to Longboat Key, for an ocean swim and … [Read more...]

A bit of a funk

monopoly-go-to-jail

I have had a rough few weeks. You know what they say, when it rains, it pours. Oyyy! My stress load has been a combination of financial issues, frustrations with my job, cramming in studying for exams and trying to get my physical fitness back in gear after my surgery recovery. It's been quite a load to handle. In addition to everything going on in my life I've had some horrible body image issues lately. I just haven't been feeling that good about myself. You know the feeling, when you … [Read more...]

Visit from dad, hydroponic farm trip

DSC05642

This past week I had 4 exams in 5 days. That's... insanity right? Perhaps the professors all whispered behind my back to see how they could possibly make my life a bit more stressful than it already is!?  Ugh! So I've definitely let my blogging slack recently, but as you can see I've had good reason! But my exams are finally over,  so I have a bit of breathing room now! This weekend I got a surprise visit from my dad, who lives up in Minnesota with my step-mom and brothers. I was really … [Read more...]

Blackbird fly, into the light of the dark black night

tumblr_l8icxadeNC1qdwetoo1_400

Well hello there blog land! I thought you deserved an update, since I've been in a bit of a blogging funk lately. I told myself I'd be blogging like crazy through my knee surgery recovery, and yet I've found myself busy with other things. Back in school, a bucket-load of work piled on me, and sleeping way more than usual have taken up a majority of my time. Ok, in all honesty I should probably add Netflix and spending time with my amazing man to the list, but hey, who's counting? I've officially … [Read more...]

Shedding that holiday weight gain

44191640063085590_f3nft3D7_c

There are three little words that I loathe. Three little words that will make most people retaliate with rock-solid New Years resolutions, promises to do better, do more, and push harder. Three little words that are practically unavoidable--at least for me. Holiday Weight Gain. Blah. As someone who follows a wholesome plant-based diet, and makes taking care of her body a top priority (I even got the oh-so-sweet compliment from my man earlier this week "You are probably the healthiest … [Read more...]

Road to Recovery

Female_runner_silhouette_is_mirrored_below_with_a_soft_pastel_sunset

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a safe a happy holiday, and are enjoying the last moments of holiday bliss before heading back to work, school and regular routines. I was able to have a Christmas with both my mom and my dad this year, which made me incredibly grateful beyond words. It's a good thing I got some fun times in these past few weeks, because the next couple of weeks are going to be a challenge. On Wednesday I'm having an arthroscopic knee surgery, followed by 2 weeks of … [Read more...]

Remembering 9/11 and being grateful

American-Flag

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. I spent my day in remembrance of the lives lost and the amazing sacrifices made by our American heros. I've enjoyed reading lots of blog posts dedicated to remembering this tragic day, and reading personal stories recalling exact whereabouts and realizations during the tragedy. I think September 11th will forever be memorialized, much like Dec 7th, 1941 --the attacks on Pearl Harbor. And it's memorials … [Read more...]

What I ate Wednesday… and how to feel sexy.

DSC02788

This is sort of how my day started... First accounting course of the semester. Walked into class about 10 minutes late. Oyyy. (traffic was bad). Managed to squeeze down the row into one of the last available seats. Pulled out my textbook and notebook only to realize I bought the wrong addition. Arrrg. Reached into my bag and grabbed the ice cold Kombucha I picked up at WF earlier that morning. Kombucha explodes. All over my desk. In the middle of the lecture. It wasn't pretty. … [Read more...]

eating disorder recovery

DSC02514

I know I don't talk about this a lot, but one of my inspirations for starting my blog was my journey and recovery through an eating disorder when I was a teenager. You can read about my story here on my blog, or you can check out an article of mine that was published recently in What's Up Ocala and posted on their website here. Yay! I've been published! What's Up Ocala is an amazing publication, and their website offers a variety of articles on health and wellness, local dining and … [Read more...]

Some meditation and peace of mind

Some meditation and peace of mind

Today I did some serious meditation on life. After hearing about several friends with loved ones going through serious health problems, I realized I have so much to be grateful for, and sometimes it slips away from my mind how precious life really is. Along with gratitude, I've realized that patience, compassion and sensitivity are also really beautiful things, all of which I'm trying to have a bit more of these days. (((((sigh)))))) One day at a time...Today I vamped up my blog a wee bit. :) … [Read more...]
