The China Study

I just started reading The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, PhD and Thomas Campbell, MD. I noticed the book had some truly fabulous reviews and I was ready for some new reading material. Thanks to my sweet mother, with a click of a button I downloaded it on my new Nook :) (Christmas present) <—LOVE it!
The book is authored by the famous Dr. T. Colin Campbell and co-authored by his son. Dr. Campbell grew up on a dairy farm, studied veterinary medicine and later on nutritional health and animal research at Cornell University. His original research was on farm animals and growth hormones to make bigger and better meat products for our dinner plates. He moved on to study malnourishment in third world countries, specifically the Philippines. Through years of research and experience he eventually fine tuned his focus to nutritional health, diet and cancer research–specifically the correlation between protein diets vs. plant diets and cancer development.  His studies led him down a windy road but along the way he discovered a food science and nutritional revelation–a positive link between protein consumption, specifically animal protein, and cancer development. The book discusses the research, observations and conclusions of the study, which is still ongoing, along with additional statistical evidence to back his claim. Overall, it’s a powerful book with a powerful message. Check it out!
