What I Ate Wednesday link party

Sometimes Living Social makes me so incredibly happy. For example when they feature one of my favorite stores or vendors, like yesterday's feature--Whole Foods! But sometimes they really piss me off when it's a measly amount like $10 for $20 worth of goods. Arg. What's the deal!? But my $10 savings did buy me a glorious jar of organic pure maple syrup so I guess that's a score ;) But who can go into WF and come out with only a jar of maple syrup? Not this girl apparently. I also … [Read more...]

Good Eats. Good Treats.

Hello lovlies! I hope you all had a fabulous labor day weekend! Even though I spent most of my labor day weekend laboring... grrr... I did get to squeeze in a little R&R and yummy eats! I had a huge sweet tooth this weekend, so I scooted my butt into the kitchen and did some baking. I don't exactly consider myself an expert baker, but I love it nonetheless. However, sometimes things don't turn out the way I plan... I tried making these cherry almond cookies from Vegan Cookies Invade Your … [Read more...]

What I ate Wednesday… and how to feel sexy.

DSC02788

This is sort of how my day started... First accounting course of the semester. Walked into class about 10 minutes late. Oyyy. (traffic was bad). Managed to squeeze down the row into one of the last available seats. Pulled out my textbook and notebook only to realize I bought the wrong addition. Arrrg. Reached into my bag and grabbed the ice cold Kombucha I picked up at WF earlier that morning. Kombucha explodes. All over my desk. In the middle of the lecture. It wasn't pretty. … [Read more...]

What I Ate Wednesday

What I Ate Wednesday

Time for another fabulous link party hosted by Jenn over @ Peas and Crayons. :) This week has been jammed pack full of vacation shenanigans but I've still had lots of yummy eats. Yes, some have been healthier than others (like all of the onion rings and bloody marys I stuffed myself with on Monday. Oyy!), but I am on vacation so I try to enjoy! But as I mentioned earlier, there are still some good ways to stay on track with healthy eating while you are on vacay. One of the best things for me is … [Read more...]

Centrifugal vs. Masticating Juicers

Juicing blunders and WIAW

For the past two weeks, I've been dealing with a major juicer fail. Arg! But first, let me introduce you to my beloved friend. Meet Señorita. Yes, I call her that. My mom's fiancé gave me this little gadget on temporary loan... but it's been almost a year and he hasn't quite asked for her back yet so I'll be juicing my lil heart out until he does :) This is a Breville. It's a centrifugal juicer. She's fast and efficient and I adore her. But I've heard some wonderful things about masticating … [Read more...]

Coconut curry stir fry!

Coconut curry stir fry!

I love curry. There is something about the slightly sweet and yet spicy combination in curry dishes that just tickles my palate. There are so many different types of curry, that the possibilities for cooking with curry are endless! I have just started exploring curry more recently. Believe it or not, I used to think I was allergic to the stuff! When I was a kid I always had a swollen and scratchy throat when I ate my mom's chicken curry dish. But somewhere in early adulthood I tried curry again … [Read more...]

WIAW and guest blog posts

WIAW and guest blog posts

So I've been sort of slacking in my What I Ate Wednesday posts this month. My excuse is... I forget? I'm lazy? I forget to to take pictures of what I eat mostly... I focus my picture taking on new recipes instead. And more than anything, I can't imagine why my food blogger friends would want to look at another bowl of oatmeal. Bahh whatever, THIS week I have some eats to share with you all. Head on over to Peas and Crayons to check out the WIAW link party. You will meet lots of awesome bloggers … [Read more...]

Veggie and Lentil Sloppy Joe’s

Veggie and Lentil Sloppy Joe's

I always look forward to what summertime really brings to the table--summer foods! I'm crazy about watermelon, fresh corn on the cob, icy cold lemonade and all of the other traditional American eats. Although I don't eat bbq ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and Sloppy Joe's anymore, I can't help but dream about veganizing the sweet and tender flavors of my childhood favorites. The neighbors have been BBQing all week and I won't lie--it's made me hungry for BBQ. I often get asked the question "Do you … [Read more...]

Patience pays off!

Patience pays off!

Last week I was having the suckiest most miserable week EVER. Do you ever have weeks like that? I was feeling piles of financial stress regarding school, taxes, student loans, etc., as well as personal stress with work, my relationship and so much more. I had to put my Colorado trip on hold and focus on some issues that I needed to deal with at home. Which was a major bummer for me. :( I spent a couple of nights crying and wondering why on earth everything was falling apart all at once?! I hate … [Read more...]
